5S Methodology at AVN Upparwahi
AVN Upperwahi has implemented the 5S methodology, a Japanese approach, in partnership with MCW and AWMS to enhance operational practices. This initiative aims to improve workplace organization, cleanliness, and management while fostering a safe and conducive environment. The key components are: Organization, Neatness, Cleaning, Standardization, and Discipline.

Steps Taken by the AVN Team for 5S Implementation.
- Orientation sessions for staff and students conducted by the MCW training team (JAGRUTI Group).
- Identification of sub-zones and assignment of sub-zone owners.
- Self-assessment summaries documented by each sub-zone owner.
- Self-assessment checklists created by each sub-zone owner.
- Rough assessment sheets compiled by the respective sub-zone teams.
- Action plans and job responsibilities outlined by sub-zone teams.
- Standard practices documented by sub-zone owners.
- Periodic meetings held among committee members from various zones.
- Identification of areas for red tagging and materials/equipment for red tagging.
- Display of best out of waste, promoting recycling and reuse.
Process Overview:
- Sorting: Distinguishing between wanted and unwanted items.
- Neatness & Cleaning: Maintaining cleanliness and performing inspections.
- Standardizing: Tagging and locating items effectively.
- Discipline: Ensuring sustainability of practices.
An audit was conducted by Mr. Prasad Datar on April 15, 2024, for Adani Electricity.
AVN Upparwahi is proud to be part of the MCW plant's 5S team, which earned a Silver Trophy and certification for the 3rd Cycle of AWMS Accreditation.
